Lower School

HAFTR Lower School builds on the skills obtained at HAFTR Early Childhood, and continues to focus on the development of the whole child. Social and emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and middot are cultivated within our warm and caring, yet challenging learning environment. Recognizing that each child is unique, with individual educational needs, interests, and learning styles, every student is given the opportunity to maximize his/her learning potential with curricula designed to accommodate our community of learners.

Dr. Joshua Gold

"Our yeshiva's academic and extracurricular programming is driven by our deep commitment to academic excellence and Torah values, and is designed to engage, support and challenge our students, positioning each and every one of them to feel a sense of responsibility and passion as the caretakers of our holy mesorah. The student experience at HAFTR is characterized by inquiry-driven learning, a strong focus on social emotional development and wellbeing, and a caretaking and collaborative faculty who cultivates a warm learning environment."
Ms. Temima Feldman

Associate Principal
"I am proud to work in a Yeshiva that creates an environment conducive to the intellectual and emotional growth of each student and offers each child a path towards self-growth in social, emotional and intellectual pursuits."
Ms. Tova Zucker

Assistant Principal
"It is our sacred mission to nurture the neshama of each student and support their social-emotional growth within the innovative and challenging academic curriculum, both in Judaic and General studies, for which HAFTR is renowned."
Rabbi Asher Klein

Mashgiach Ruchani N-8
"There is no greater joy and privilege than to be able to help our incredible talmidim connect to Hashem through the learning of Torah and performance of mitzvot. Seeing the excitement that the students have for learning from their rebbeim and morot, and their appreciation for the Torah programming that we provide, drives us to want to give them more and more. It is such a bracha to be able to play a role in helping our children grow in their relationship with Hashem everyday!"
#TBT to one of our favorite Lower School traditions, Challah Bake.

Doughy hands, sugar everywhere, and the kind of joy that only happens when you’re baking challah together to prepare for Shabbat. A sweet tradition that connects learning, community, and meaning.

One braid at a time.

#TBT to coding, HAFTR style.
Our Lower School Hawks bring coding to life through play and teamwork with our exciting Beebots. Who knew problem-solving could be this much fun?

3rd grade just reminded us why we do all of this.

Our M’Dor L’Dor evening brought families together to share heirlooms, stories, and traditions passed down through generations. All of it built by 8-year-olds who now know exactly where they come from and why it matters.

Jewish heritage isn’t something we teach in a classroom. It’s something families carry in and students carry forward.
