Discover HAFTR Early Childhood
HAFTR is a co-educational Modern Orthodox yeshiva that strives to instill in our students a love of Hashem, lifelong learning, community, and Israel. Our rigorous dual curricular education in Limudei Kodesh and general studies prepares future generations of leaders, bnei /bnot Torah, and critical thinkers. We facilitate our students’ pursuit of academic excellence and development of a personal relationship with Hashem and middot tovot in a caring learning environment.

We develop responsible and engaged citizens and leaders who are guided by Torah, mitzvot, ahavat Yisrael, Tzionut, chesed, and the values of Modern Orthodoxy. We facilitate students' realizing their maximum potential as future Jewish leaders and representatives of the Jewish people.

We celebrate the uniqueness of each child in our community of learners by providing innovative, stimulating, and varied learning opportunities that address each student’s specific developmental needs. Inspiring Jewish Leaders
At HAFTR Early Childhood, our emphasis is on child-centered, purposeful learning through play, academics, Torah values, and social-emotional skills. Our educational philosophy is rooted in integrating each child’s individual potential paired with their innate curiosity, sense of discovery, and a lifelong love of learning. We believe that play, connected to our developmentally appropriate academic goals, helps to set our children up to be critical thinkers, risk takers, and good citizens of the world.
Our program includes a strong emphasis on Torah stories, Chagim, American holidays, community, family, and nature. Purposeful Play is a child-centered process, where children interact with their environment in a meaningful way. Our lessons are often teacher guided, child initiated. We will come up with projects and ideas together as a class based on the discussions and expressed interests we share. The children play an active role in what they are learning and how it is executed.

Chanukah, Oh Chanukah come celebrate at HAFTR! Let`s have a party with smiles and laughter. Gather round the table we`ll give you a treat. Chanukah crafts to color and cookies to eat!
Everyone had a blast at the 3`s Chanukah celebration! The children decorated their Chanukiot that they will light on Chanukah and we lit the candles together with Rabbi Ben. We sang songs and ate donuts. What a great day!
What a great celebration with Chanukah crafts, treats & music! Everyone had a LATKE fun making latke trays and dreidel frames. Rabbi Ben sang Hanukkah songs with us and DONUT tell me you didn`t love the munchkins. Happy Chanukah!
Our Pre-K Challah bake was a-dough-able! Morah Alana Krul led the event and showed everyone how to make challah dough for Shabbat. Rabbi Ben also joined us and led everyone in singing Shabbat songs. It was a loaf-ly gathering! Thank you to everyone that joined us!

Chalav U'dvash
This Hebrew language program is designed for very young children, and promotes rich receptive language skills and specific expressive-language skills.
Morah Yael uses games, songs, pictures, and puzzles to enhance her lessons, as the children are being exposed to the Hebrew language.
Library
Every classroom has a library filled with beloved read-alouds and series featuring familiar characters. Our main Library builds the foundation for a love of reading and writing. Children visit the Library as a Specialty, where they enjoy a warm, relaxing space with a diverse selection of books. The Library curriculum connects to Chagim, Parsha, seasons, and social-emotional learning.
Social-Emotional Growth
Early Childhood is a time of tremendous growth. We focus on naming feelings and learning how to respond. In the classroom, children collaborate, listen, and work as a team. Over the year, we build a community where children trust, help, and support each other. We guide them in conflict resolution, compromising, and listening while teaching that mistakes are okay and encourage trying again. Social skills are part of everything we do.
