Lasting Legacies
Dear HAFTR,
Six million Jewish lives lost. Parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters. We will never forget.
We must also, at the same time, honor our relatives--those who have passed and those still with us--who endured the war, survived the camps, or helped other survivors in their own unique way. I was lucky to have relationships with six of my great-grandparents, all with their own amazing stories of survival. I’ve grown up in awe of these very special individuals, learning more and more of their fight, their courage, and their determination. I believe these stories must be shared, and I know I’m not alone.
I’d like to introduce Lasting Legacies by HAFTR.
Lasting Legacies by HAFTR, to be published in Spring 2022, will be a volume of survivor stories, along with their relevant documents, artifacts, and other noteworthy information. HAFTR families, old and new, will have an opportunity to share details of their parents’, grandparents’, and great-grandparents’ stories with us.
Please join me on this journey by dusting off those boxes in your attics and begin to search through them. HAFTR families past and present are invited to submit requests for pages in our book to be set aside and reserved. Pages may include a description of your family member, photo(s) and images of documents or artifacts to be displayed.
If you have any questions, please send an email to [email protected].
Thank you,
Abigail Wiener
