Meet Our Staff


 Ari Solomon, Executive/ Camp Director

 Ari is HAFTR's Executive Director. Ari was a teacher in the NYC Public School System, overseeing sports and  education and leadership training. He has been managing various Jewish Day Camps for over 20 years. Ari also has a Master's Degree in education and is a recipient of the Jefferson Award for organizing and inspiring children in free fitness and character building programs and transforming their lives through running, exercising and making healthy life choices.

 Evan Leibowitz, Assistant Director, Lower Campus

Evan Leibowitz has been apart of the Hillel administration as the assistant director for the past 5 years and has worked in the camping industry for 20 years. During the school year, he is a K- 5 educator in the NYC public schools in the Bronx and mentors local high school and college students in preparing them for the field of education. He is a father of 4 and views camp as an integral part of a child’s growth and development as it fosters independence and creativity, and camp allows students to form new friendships and build relationships that can last a lifetime.

 Rabbi Jordan Nadelbach, Assistant Director, Upper Campus

Rabbi Nadelbach has worked in Jewish day camps for over 15 years and is experienced in organizing and hiring great staff. He has his Master's Degree is Special Education and received his s'micha from Yeshiva Mesoras Hatorah. Rabbi Nadelbach is currently the Director of Student Activities at HAFTR High School where he has worked for the past 5 years.


Alyssa Schechter/ Program Director

Alyssa is the Assistant Director of Student Activities in HAFTR High School, and holds a Master's Degree in      Early Education and Special Education. She has been working for Jewish day camps in Long Island for over 14 years, and has spent the last 15 years developing fun, engaging, memorable programs. She is also a parent of three HAFTR students.



Shana Pollack, Camp Head Counselor

Shana will be brining her years of Hillel Day Camp experience, community knowledge and professional skills as an educator to back to Hillel Day Camp. We anticipate her leadership and personable demeanor to be the bridge between the upper and lower campuses.




Sima Fish, Aquatics Director

Sima has been a head lifeguard for over 20 years. She has been at Hillel Day Camp for the past 7 years. Sima holds licenses in rescue diving, lifeguarding instruction, response to emergency, first aid, CPR, and pool management. Sima is also the principal of the Ezra Academy of Queens. She is a doctoral candidate in education and has a Master's degree in education and a law degree.
