Chesed

על שלושה דברים העולם עומד–על התורה, ועל העבודה, ועל גמילות החסדים

The world stands upon three things: On TorahWorship and Loving Deeds... (Pirkei Avot 1:2)

Chesed is one of the hallmarks of Judaism. All personal relationships and partnerships are founded on this cornerstone. At HAFTR, we stress the importance of kindness and generosity, beyond the classroom walls. As members of Klal Yisrael, helping one another is a primary responsibility of the Jewish people. We encourage our students to participate in a wide range of chesed activities throughout the school year.   HAFTR students take part in various opportunities such as: toy drives, food drives, hospital and nursing home visits, Sukkah building, peer tutoring, volunteering at I-Shine and other organizations, and Tomchei Shabbos.  Most recently, HAFTR students shined after Hurricane Sandy. Students in each division volunteered within the community to assist those in need. With the leadership of our Rabbis, our students saw, firsthand, the importance giving back to others.
