Back to School Message from HAFTR's Executive Director,
Reuben Maron

Dear HAFTR Family:

Bruchim Ha’baim to our returning and new HAFTR Families!

We are ready to begin the new academic year together with you and your children
and would like to share some of our exciting recent developments with you.

This fall we are pleased to welcome over 50 new families to HAFTR and as a result, added another Kindergarten class and Toddler class. Additionally, our entering freshman class at HAFTR High School is the largest class in several years.

The Early Childhood Center has a new “Mommy & Me” and “Savta and Me” program for children ages 12 months to 24 months.

Students in our Early Childhood, Lower School and Middle School will have access to a half acre of new outdoor play and sports space adjacent to Central Avenue.

We purchased thirty-six state-of-the-art Smart Boards last year and will be adding more this year. By the end of next year, our aim is to have all of our classrooms in all divisions outfitted with SmartBoards to further enhance student learning.

Among HAFTR High School’s initiatives is a new Achievement Center which will provide academic support for entering freshmen. For the first time, students will have their own student and chesed lounge, opening after Sukkot.

We warmly welcome several new administrators; Mrs. Rochelle Brand as the Principal of HAFTR Middle School and Rabbi Dr. Steven Eisenberg as the Director of Judaic Studies at HAFTR Lower School.

We would like to apprise you that Rabbi David Leibtag has decided to pursue other areas in the field of Jewish Education and will not return for the 2010-2011 academic year. For the past twelve years Rabbi Liebtag has served HAFTR as Middle School Principal, Educational Director and Head of School (N-8). We appreciate the dedication and leadership that he has demonstrated during that time and thank him for the contribution that he has made to the growth of our school. We also thank Rabbi Gavriel Herzig and Mrs. Mala Goldberg for their service at HAFTR and wish them continued success in their future endeavors.

As we continue to strive for excellence, we are proud to share these wonderful developments and more with our HAFTR Families. I look forward to seeing you at our HAFTR events during the year. My door is always open.

Wishing you a Shana Tovah U’Metukah,

Reuben Maron
