A college education is not a quantitative body of knowledge salted away in a card file. It is a taste for knowledge, a taste for philosophy, if you will; a capacity to explore, to question, to perceive relationships, between fields of knowledge and experience.
- A. Whitney Griswold
The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future life.

Israel Guidance Department
Girls Adviser: Mrs. Debra Green
Boys Adviser: Rabbi Hillel Lichtman
The Israel guidance department of HAFTR is here to facilitate the process of a student choosing and moving on to a year of study in Israel. If a senior is interested in considering the option to spend a year studying in Israel he/she makes an appointment with the Israel guidance adviser. Parents are welcome to make appointments as well. Appropriate schools based upon academics, religiosity, and social setting will be suggested. The student then fills out applications and turns them back into the Israel guidance office. Transcripts and recommendation letters are attached and mailed to the schools. Interviews are set up through the Israel guidance office, and usually take place in HAFTR. The student will then be accepted into various schools. Every effort is made by the administration to insure that every student is accepted to a school that meets their needs.
A basic time table is as follows: (please note the differences between the girls and boys)
