Chalav u'Dvash Language Program

  • Make Hebrew learning a pleasurable experience for the
    children and involve the entire family.
  • Impart a basic knowledge of spoken Hebrew as a
    foundation for future study of the language.
  • Develop children’s ability to communicate in Hebrew;
    through a variety of opportunities to use the linguistic patterns and acquire vocabulary
  • Connect Hebrew to everyday social situations related to the

In fifth grade the students are guided to write paragraphs of
greater complexity and length than in previous years, compose songs and poems, read and write newspaper“advertisements” and speak only in Hebrew. As in previous years, students read at home
on a daily basis in order to practice their reading skills. The theme centers on food and nutrition. Topics for conversation are discussions about favorite foods; students hear stories relating to shopping,
cooking, ordering in a restaurant and creating recipes.
